For the goalkeeper standing back and watching the game it was not the most exciting. However, to be fair to them I had to make a few saves and even on the final whistle I had Gio to thank for clearing a header off the line.

We started the game well and if we had scored early then it would have killed the match.

Both Rod and Fernando were unlucky not to give us the lead very early on and my first save of the half came when Audrius Zuta came through on goal but luckily his shot was not that powerful and I gathered it.

I thought Gio was going to burst the net when he managed to get inside their defence, but my opposite number managed to get a hand to it and stop the ball from going over his head and into the net.

We had a very lucky escape not long before half-time when Ignas Dedura headed the ball from a corner but it went wide.

We anticipated a very physical game and I don’t think O have ever seen as many free-kicks conceded by any other team except Kaunas!

Andrei got a bit of a cheer from the home supporters as his father came from that area – in a fact a Kanchelskis played for Kaunas as well!

In the second-half Bert was very unlucky to see his goal disallowed. I like to see keepers given protection but King Kon’s attempt was fair and he got lucky with a header.

We got lucky when I turned round to see Gio heading the ball off the line.

We can play better but we avoided a slip-up I expect a harder game tonight!
